The team at Digital Science were looking to mark the return of their popular interactive event, FuturePub, with a bang after a two year pandemic-enforced break. These regular events bring people from different segments of the research community together to discuss the latest in research, technology and innovation in an informal setting, featuring lighting talks and interactive demonstrations.
For the re-launch the team wanted to raise the awareness of FuturePub, build an understanding and maintain the core values of being fun, informal, organic and collaborative - the ‘quirky upstarts’ of the research technology community.
An evolving monogram-based identity was created, accompanied by a bright, bold colour palette and light-hearted event descriptor. The concept of a changing logo was built around the idea that research is interdisciplinary and features many different but equally important fields of study all working together.
Animation helped bring this to life as did the slide templates, a series of t-shirts, stickers and banners which were all produced to accompany the hugely successful return of the event.
