Pledgeball is a research-backed charity that engages fans and the sports community on environmental sustainability and climate change.
2024 was an especially big year for the charity and in the summer they partnered with Mastercard to deliver, 'The Champions Innovate Pledge League', part of UEFA's Champions Innovate programme designed to solve modern, meaningful and relevant challenges in the context of the Champions League Final.
I worked with the comms team to pull together a multi-channel campaign working with partners from UEFA, Mastercard and illustrator Rob Lowe, to deliver a hugely successful activation piece that resulted in over 6 million impressions and 91,000 pledges, saving a total of 21,512,779 kgCO2e/Year, equivalent to taking over 4,500 cars off the road!
We also worked with the British Artist Helen Kirkum to create ‘The Pledge Ball’, created from the pre-loved boots provided by children’s football charity, Bloomsbury Football, and engraved with pledges from fans, clubs, players, sponsors, charities and supporter groups to represent and inspire collective action on sustainability.
